At the conclusion of the church service, everybody is welcome to join the family for refreshments at St Mary‘s Old Boys Rugby Club.

Should anyone wish to make a donation in memory of Chris, the family would like you to consider the amazing charity work being undertaken by Liam O’Keefe in aid of the RFU Injured Players Foundation;

_______________________________________________________________________________

Chris represented the club at juniors from the age of 16 and through his adult playing career as a stalwart of our very successful 2nd XVs, 3rd XVs and Vets through the 70s and 80s, playing his final game aged 60 in 2003!

He attended St Brendan’s where he fell under the tutelage of the famous Elwyn Price, sharing a rugby education with the likes of Brendan Perry (Bath) Charlie Davidson (England Schools) and our own Chalky White.

His son, and former Club Captain Paul, said that ‘it was his friendship with Chalky that ensured Chris became a St Mary’s man, as Chalky’s Dad Jack White would not let Chris play for anyone else.’

Chris made an important contribution to ensure our move to Northwood Park was a success. As Chalky led the project, Chris was his right-hand man, assisting in the project management of the process of moving the club to our current home and supporting Chalky through the procurement, design and build process.

Chris ran out for the final time in the green and black aged 60 in 2003 for our 2nd XV when Paul was 1st XV Full Back. He remained a staunch and loyal supporter of the club, frequently attending supporters’ lunches and watching 1st XV games.

As well as his wife Edwina, Chris is survived by his son Paul, sisters Sally and Anna and his grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are to follow, and I am sure the club will want to support Paul and the family at this difficult time, as well as giving Chris a good send off.
