Mary's Came Back from 21-10 Down to Defeat Ivel

St Mary's travelled down to Ivel Barbarians to play a friendly 12-a-side match and took a while to get going in the match.

Ivel scored 3 tries in the 1st half all under the post after breaking quickly from turnovers to take a 21-0 lead however Mary's came back into the game when outside centre Esther Gasa Fonollosa broke down the wing to score in the corner before number 8 Katie Sully muscled her way through to score to bring the game back to 21-10 at half time.

The start of the 2nd half saw Ivel extend their lead further when missed tackled saw Ivel break from their half to score under the posts once more. Mary's stepped it up in the 2nd half and took control dominating the possession and Katie Sully scored 2 more tries with 2 long runs down either wing before she bagged her 4th try after quick play from ruck and Lisa McCormick played her in from 5 meters out to bring the game to 28-25. Mary's then got a penalty which Lisa McCormick seemed to successfully kick for touch but it held up just before the line and captian Bridget Sanger was the quickest to react chasing up on the wing to claim the ball and dive over the try line to take the game by 2 points 28-30.

Mary's took a lot from the game playing 12-a-side and never let their heads drop after Ivel took a good early lead. Their next game is against Hornettes ladies in the league on Sunday 11th November at home.
