Keeping
Yourself Fit - YOU
NEED A FIT BODY - AND A FIT BRAIN
"England's
current status as the dominent team in the world has been built
around the simple philosophy of individual and team fitness. Simply
put, we tire our oposition and win games in the last fifteen minutes"
- Sir Clive Woodward.
"The
fitter you are, the less likely you are to get injured" - Martin
Johnson.
A recent
RFU survey showed that there are many young players at all age groups
within the game of Rugby Union with sufficient potential to make
it to national and internation levels of the game. However this
survey also highlighted that, despite the level of talent a young
player has, only those, who has trained hard and have made fitness
an integral part of their gamehave, and will reach these top levels.
This survey goes on to state that the earlier a player starts a
routine of physical fitness, the more likely they are in these competitive
times, to reach these higher levels of the game.
Although
Tuesday and Sunday training contains certain amounts of fitness
training, these session are basically set aside for teaching the
technical aspects of the game, along with drills to reinforce these
skills.
With
this in mind, Stuart Braley has agreed to hold fitness training
on a Thursday evening from 6:45pm onwards. These sessions are open
to all, children and adults alike. They are set around basic yet
sound fitness routines taking into account the different growth
stages of our developing children. These excerise sessions are not
designed to build our people in Mr Universe contestants, they are
designed to gradually build up their basic underlying level of all
round fitness. Something we could all do with these days.
